Forgeries…

So, some winner snatched an envelope out of the mail which had a check destined for you? Yeah, me too. Here’s what you need to do if the person sending you money is unable to put a stop payment on in time and the check is cashed.
- Make sure they’ve got the cancelled check / check image
- They will need to contact their bank to request a Forged Signature/Endorsement Affidavit
- Fill in the blanks and get it signed and notarized
- Eventually, they’ll get their account credited (the bank which accepted the forged check is held liable), and you can get your money
